The island did steal our hearts, just like Betsy had predicted. The weather was so warm, sunny and welcoming that Betsy was joking saying that the island was showing off trying to charm us.We have spent an unforgettable time and made new friends, and with the heavy hearts we had to move on back to the mainland.
Boat pick up had been scheduled for 7 am on Monday morning. We woke up with the roosters at 5:55. The musical competition between an older, well established rooster, and the younger, still learning to "cacaldoodidoo" teenage rooster was a great way to welcome a new day of travels.
Since the kids went to bed all dressed up, it didn't take us long to get ready. The bags had been packed a day before and Bob and Betsy were going to put the tents down.
We said good buys on the deck and Dave's boat took us away, back to Deer Harbor to catch Orcas ferry.When we made it on time for a 12pm ferry from Keystone to Post Townsend being the last but one car to get in, we were all cheering! That meant no waiting for an hour and a half for the next ferry and we could make it to our new farm before dinner time!
Being very thankful to folks on FinnRiver farm where we had kept out trailer while traveling to Waldron, we packed and hitched on with the speed of a lightning. Larry and Sandy have been waiting for us on Granny's Farm!
